Indoor Positioning

IntelliKran Real Time Location System (RTLS)

IntelliKran RTLS is an indoor GPS solution for tracking machines, objects, and vehicles inside industrial facilities where traditional GPS does not work. The platform combines anchor-tag positioning architecture with industrial control integration so location data can directly drive interlocks, safety logic, workflow automation, and operational analytics.

RTLS indoor positioning sensor

Indoor GPS

Reliable tracking in GPS-denied indoor and covered industrial environments

Sensor Flexibility

UWB and ultrasonic options selected according to range, accuracy, and budget

System Integration

Position feeds to PLCs, SCADA, edge services, and cloud telemetry pipelines

Industrial Grade

Engineered for noise, vibration, metallic structures, and high-duty operation

Core Value Proposition

  • Indoor GPS capability for factories, process bays, warehouses, and covered logistics yards where GNSS/GPS signals are unavailable or unreliable.
  • Accurate and deterministic location data for machine safety, collision prevention, route guidance, and digital workflow automation.
  • Supports multiple sensing approaches: UWB for high-precision zones and ultrasonic RTLS for robust indoor deployments.
  • Unified integration path to PLCs, SCADA, MES, edge gateways, and cloud analytics platforms.
  • Scalable architecture from pilot zones to multi-bay and multi-building industrial deployments.
  • Engineered for harsh industrial environments including EMI, vibration, metallic structures, and intermittent RF congestion.

System Architecture

Anchor Layer

Fixed anchors are installed across bays and process areas to create a calibrated indoor coordinate network.

Tag Layer

Mobile tags mounted on cranes, forklifts, skid steer loaders, tools, or pallets continuously transmit position-related data.

Edge Position Engine

A local computation layer filters measurements, computes coordinates, validates data quality, and publishes real-time telemetry.

Control Integration

Position and geofence events are pushed to PLC logic and HMI/SCADA systems for interlocks, slowdown zones, and process automation.

UWB vs Ultrasonic Selection

UWB RTLS

Example sensor family: Metratec UWB portfolio

Strengths: Centimeter-level localization, fast updates, suitable for high-accuracy machine safety and precise asset tracking

Best fit: Cranes, AGVs, and process-critical zones requiring tight positional tolerance

Ultrasonic RTLS

Example sensor family: Marvelmind ultrasonic beacons

Strengths: High indoor precision, robust operation in GNSS-denied areas, cost-effective scaling for indoor deployments

Best fit: Indoor mobile robots, forklifts, carts, and mixed-traffic industrial halls

Industrial Use Cases

  • Overhead crane runway tracking with geofenced no-go zones and location-driven interlocks.
  • Forklift and tugger route supervision with hotspot alerts at loading docks and crossings.
  • Skid steer and compact machine motion tracking in constrained workshop or plant areas.
  • WIP/container tracking from line-side staging to dispatch with real-time location timestamps.
  • Tooling and fixture localization to reduce search time and improve changeover efficiency.
  • Personnel and vehicle proximity awareness for safer operations in mixed-use industrial spaces.
