Collision Avoidance
Multi-level Collision Avoidance System
Anti-collision solution for cranes operating at different heights, designed to monitor crane and hook positions in real time and apply coordinated slowdown/stop interlocks when unsafe proximity is detected.
Detection
Real-time sensing of crane and hook positions
Control Range
5-10m approach zone for slowdown and stop
Safety Logic
Hook upper-limit aware collision decisions
Deployment
Supports coordinated upper/lower bay cranes
System Coverage
- Continuous position sensing of all cranes on upper and lower bays
- Real-time hook position monitoring integrated into collision logic
- Coordinated interlocks for slowdown and stop across approaching cranes
- Designed for multi-crane operations on shared runway spaces
Principle of Operation
- The system continuously tracks all crane positions and hook position status.
- When cranes approach within a 5-10m range, slowdown and stop logic is evaluated.
- If the upper-bay crane hook is not at upper limit, both upper and lower bay cranes are slowed/stopped when approaching unsafe proximity.
- If the upper-bay crane hook is at upper limit, approaching cranes can continue without slowdown/stop for that condition.
Reference Installation
- Crane 1: Top bay, bay length 100m, span 29m
- Crane 2: Top bay, bay length 100m, span 29m
- Crane 3: Bottom bay, bay length 80m, span 8m
- Crane 4: Bottom bay, bay length 80m, span 8m
Key Benefits
- Reduces collision risk in cranes operating at different levels
- Improves operational safety in dense multi-crane environments
- Enforces predictable movement behavior near critical zones
- Supports safer synchronization between top and bottom bay cranes
